Do you feel stressed quite often? Do you find it hard to relax and be calm?
Are you wanting to find a technique that can help you?
Here are some health benefits of Reiki healing practice.
What is Reiki?
Reiki, pronounced ‘ray-key’, is a Japanese form of therapy that aims to increase energy levels and promote relaxation and wellbeing. Developed in the late 19th century, reiki is applied through non-invasive, non-manipulative gentle touch. It is said to involve the transfer of universal energy from the practitioner's palms to their patient.
Reiki is an energy-healing practice that is considered safe with no side effects that focuses on all aspect of being including physically, mentally, emotionally and spiritually.
Physical Level
On a physical level, Reiki supports the body's natural ability to heal itself, helping to release blockages, toxins, and relieve pain. Getting in touch with natural healing energy, Reiki can also help you to make better choices in your nutrition, become more aware and in tune with your body, helping you to develop greater awareness of your body's needs.
Mental Level
On a mental level, Reiki energy can help you to witness your thoughts and negative patterns. Once you become aware of your thoughts, you have the power to change them. This is not about positive thinking, this is about learning about your thoughts and becoming aware of your thoughts, so you can consciously make a decision whether the thoughts are serving you or not.
Emotional Level
On an emotional level, Reiki can help you get in touch with the depths of your emotions and can help you to transform whatever energy you would like to transform. Reiki can help you cultivate more positive emotions, such as love, compassion, kindness, connection, sharing, intimacy and more.
Spiritual Level
On a spiritual level, Reiki can help you to love and accept yourself. To have self-compassion and compassion for others. It can help you to connect with the divine and help you to feel that you are a part of something larger.
What to Expect in a Reiki session?
You will be asked to lie on a reiki table or sit in a chair.
The practitioner places their hands on or just above your body in sequences of positions.
Unlike massage, a reiki session does not involve any form of physical manipulation.
You do not need to remove any clothing and no private parts of your body are touched.
During a session, you may feel warmth or cold, a tingling sensation, slight twitching or a rumbling tummy, or you may feel absolutely nothing.
Sessions can last between 15 to 90 minutes. The number of sessions will vary, depending on what a client wishes to accomplish. Some clients prefer to have one session while others have a series of sessions to work on a particular issue.
Reiki doesn’t have negative effects. However, there are situations in which the application of reiki would not be recommended:
Extreme caution if you are asked to treat a client with a pacemaker. The effect of Reiki energy on such a device can be very unpredictable.
Extreme care should be taken when treating anyone who suffers from diabetes. Reiki can affect the levels of insulin required by the body.
Reiki is NOT a treatment for illness or disease. Do not stop any medical treatments on the advice of your reiki practitioner.
Always be guided by your doctor or specialist.
